Long ago and not far away I worked in an art-supply store in Berkeley. And when I left, my artist-colleagues gave me a monetary gift to make a book, which became She Said I Like Almost Anything from a Distance. It is an artist's story, really, a surreal story of outcasts and looking carefully, with a wizard and a dancer, each of whom has their own vision. The title is designed like an eye chart (I did this again with the 2020 New Year's card shown here). Each page has the same linocut of an eye with variations added. And, wouldn't you know, there's a bird in it.
