If you have a lot of stitching to do you might want to use the wax so the thread doesn't fray too much, but waxed thread is not necessary in general. Luckily, it was just included in the Ravenna Triple series No. 22 with six other of my stories: http://ravennapress.com/books/series/triple-series/ So if you can find a magazine that takes reprints or chapbooks, that may be a way to save work from defunct magazines in the future.Alisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04649805582936306865noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7380631593644516380.post-42176454950599573982023-08-14T19:39:34.535-07:002023-08-14T19:39:34.535-07:00Thanks for writing about defunct journals. You've helped me dig up a couple of stories I had published in the "Brooklyn Rail inTranslation" which is no longer produced, though the Brooklyn Rail itself still exists. They've eliminated the translations from their website. I found my translated stories on the Wayback Machine, and am grateful to you for writing about the disappearing journals. When our work is published we don't think about the possibility of it one day, without warning, becoming invisible.soundslikewishhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09338408538427770149noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7380631593644516380.post-60942596523919723602023-08-09T06:15:34.342-07:002023-08-09T06:15:34.342-07:00Thanks for the recommendation, I'll check it o...Thanks for the recommendation, I'll check it out!Alisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04649805582936306865noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7380631593644516380.post-4051807915068381532023-08-07T10:23:58.749-07:002023-08-07T10:23:58.749-07:00“Lab Girl” is a fascinating memoir by a tree scien...“Lab Girl” is a fascinating memoir by a tree scientist that includes lots of thoughts and information about trees.<br />-SusanMehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05080767128939690601noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7380631593644516380.post-17465250405705942912023-07-21T07:40:18.362-07:002023-07-21T07:40:18.362-07:00Thanks, Kathy! While this will not affect the function of the portfolio, cutting 2" would tidy that up. Thanks for finding that! Just now I followed my own instructions and the portfolio still works, although one would have to align the edges with edges and ignore trying to line up the diagonals with the X on the square.Alisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04649805582936306865noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7380631593644516380.post-79735374824584143122023-05-17T13:26:27.449-07:002023-05-17T13:26:27.449-07:00Hi Alisa! I wanted to point out what I think is an error in the Paper Portfolio (p 198-199). On step 11 it says to measure and cut 1 inch from the square. This makes a 1"x2" triangle. When I reach step 14, if I align the cut edge with the X on the square then the long edges do not line up. I believe that step 11 should measure 2 inches for the triangle. Unless I'm not understanding step 14 properly. Thanks for such a wonderful book!Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16404038690792716192noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7380631593644516380.post-59559639780811605832023-01-25T08:14:07.390-08:002023-01-25T08:14:07.390-08:00Good luck, Liz A!
