Art Quilt: Home

I feel most at home by the sea. So I am alarmed by the talk of mining the ocean. Haven't we humans done enough damage already to the land? Yes, we need resources, but surely there are more responsible ways to get them. Rant over. Start again.

I feel most at home by the ocean. It is like visiting an old friend,  but I worry about its health and all the creatures that depend upon it, like the garibaldi fish who make their home among the kelp forests. There is still time to help.

Behind the Scenes: How It All Began

A mixture of previously hand-dyed cloth and some new acrylic ink painted ones and the kelp stencil from previous quilts

(yes, my letterpress doubles as an ironing board)
Stenciled new garibaldi fish and older kelp stencil

Fish now pleated into their cloth, some composition being worked out:

On my way. But this quilt needed lots of attention to details, bit by bit. It felt more intense than some of the others I have made.
