Mycelium. Roots. Reflection. Connection. Conversation. Scraps of thought, merging. It began with the background painting, then the stamping from a handcarved image, and the drawing. The cutting, the placing, the matching. The blue to set it off. The machine quilting. Stopping partway so the image isn't in jail. The tying. The embroidering. Finally, the cutting of the circle and stitching it into place.
This one has somewhat mysterious origins. Now that I am thinking about it, I was inspired by the "wabi sabi" work by Naomi Lee, but I wrote nothing about it in my art journal. I took no process photos. But it was sometime mid/late-July when I began, taking a break from all the stitching on "Shore Thing," which will be posted next.
