Art Quilt: Fault

The quarter log cabin pattern turns out to be an interesting structure with which to use cut-up prints or scraps. I'm pursuing variations, using the three-piece form as a constriction. Recent quilts with variations on this pattern are Shore Thing, The Blues, Burning Bright, and Morning Again. It feels very satisfying sewing into linen.

Fault
20.5"w x 25"h (52 cm x 63.5 cm)
Monotypes on cotton; linen; raw edge appliqué; hand stitching; free-motion quilting

White on black gives the prints an eerie look, I think. I used black thread purposefully to piece the white handkerchief linen together. Then the free-motion crisscrossing lines over the squares and rectangles. Then some hand sewing to stitch the appliquéed pieces all the way down.

Details:

The monotypes for Fault were made using raffia and/or string lifted off from the paint on a [Amazon link] Gelli printmaking plate.

Fault can be earthquake lines or a statement of being. Your fault, my fault, no one's fault, everyone's fault.
