Near the end of autumn, the buckeye trees along the San Francisco Bay Trail shed everything and stand stark against changing sky. The marshland around them also changes color: shades of green emerging as the rain begins.
From months, maybe years ago, I had painted some small linen pieces with watercolor ground, and one became the starting point for this drawn and painted, square-foot quilt.
