The little guitar stencil I made years ago became the beginning note for this improvised cover of George Harrison’s “While My Guitar Gently Weeps.” Other lyrics in the song referenced in the quilt include: “love there that’s sleeping” (hearts); floor that “needs sweeping” (person with broom); and the world that’s turning (world map circles). Metallic embroidery thread sits in as guitar strings. As I studied the lyrics more, I thought about the line, “With every mistake we must surely be learning.” A hopeful statement.
