Making Use of Cotton Batting Scraps

When I make a quilt I often end up with trimmings. My quilts aren't standard sizes anymore, so sometimes the trimmings are quite large, definitely usable, and I save them all. I've found that I can piece them together to create a usable size for a new quilt.

First lay out all the scraps and trim to fit as a rectangle.

Set your sewing machine to zigzag and the widest setting

Take each piece and abut the edges, sewing down the center.

The stitching lays fairly flat and smooth.

Trim to square the edges.

If you have more trimmings, you can always make a coaster or eight.

Or a textile ball.
